Cosmetic Dentistry by Dr. Doyle

Dr. Michael Doyle specializes in creating exceptional new smiles for his patients through a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures. Whether it’s teeth whitening to brighten your smile, porcelain veneers or crowns to improve symmetry and function, or a complete smile makeover, every smile can be made to look bright, balanced, and beautiful.

We are dedicated to working with you to create just the smile you desire, whether that requires delicate enhancement or full mouth restoration. After all, a clean, healthy mouth and a gorgeous smile are priceless assets you can keep for life. Below are just a few of the cosmetic dentistry procedures we offer that are designed to beautify your smile.

Smile Makeover
We are pleased to offer our patients the fabulous benefits of a complete Smile Makeover! Imagine it – a renewed smile, complete with straight and white teeth, to make you look and feel your absolute best. We begin with a personal consultation to focus first on the health of your teeth and then on your ideal smile. From there, we formulate a treatment plan that may include whitening, bonding, porcelain veneers, bridges, crowns and/or bite correction. It all depends on your needs and desires. We will do what it takes to give you a dazzling smile. Contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle today to learn more about a complete smile makeover.

Teeth Whitening
Our practice proudly features the latest teeth whitening technology available. We prefer the custom whitening trays to the highly marketed bleaching treatments that use a light. We have found that the initial effect of the light systems is largely due to dehydrating the teeth; and we were not satisfied with the long term results after the teeth re-hydrate. The custom whitening trays allow intimate contact between the whitening agent and your teeth while preventing excessive contact with the gums. After your whitening treatment is complete, you can keep your trays and give yourself a touch-up whitening treatment right before your wedding, high school reunion, a special event, or just because you want to! To set up a consultation, please contact our office today.

Porcelain Crowns
Also called caps, crowns are natural-looking covers that fit snugly over teeth to conceal cracked, badly discolored, injured, or chipped teeth. Crowns provide support to damaged teeth and improve the function of your bite. Ultimately, crowns can also improve the overall appearance of your smile while making your teeth more resistant to injury. For more information about crowns, please contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle today.

Porcelain Veneers
An excellent alternative to crowns, veneers can perfect your smile by masking stains, hiding chips, correcting misalignment, and creating uniformity. Veneers, which are made of thin, customized porcelain designed to fit over the front of the tooth, look incredibly natural and are both long lasting and relatively easy to apply. Porcelain veneers can make an incredible difference in the appearance of your smile. If you would like to learn more about veneers or set up a personal smile consultation with Dr. Doyle, please contact our practice today.

Bonding
A smile can be dulled by stained, chipped, cracked or misaligned teeth, but bonding can quickly and painlessly restore your smile’s natural beauty. During the procedure, a thin coating of plastic or resin is placed over the damaged teeth and sculptured, strengthening the teeth and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. To find out if bonding is the right option for you, please contact our practice in Jarrettsville, Maryland today.

Bridges
Sometimes a bit more work is needed to give you the smile you want. If you are missing teeth, having trouble speaking or chewing, or are noticing strain when biting, bridges may be the ideal procedure to help make your mouth healthy and beautiful again. Bridges, sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, literally bridge gaps between teeth by filling them with strong, natural-looking artificial teeth. Bridges can only be removed by a dentist, and are comfortable and proven to strengthen teeth. If you have gaps in your smile and would like to find out more about bridges, please contact us today.

Full Mouth Restoration
Sometimes, patients come in needing a significant amount of dental work. There can be a number of reasons for this. In some cases, badly neglected teeth need substantial restorative work to return them to full functionality. In others, regular dental work has been performed over the years, but in piecemeal fashion with various dentists. These “one-at-a-time” fixes may not function well as a unit or may have begun to deteriorate at different rates. Other causes can include periodontal problems, the need to remove mercury amalgam fillings, or crowded, badly aligned, or aging teeth that are contributing to bite alignment problems or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain. For these patients, Dr. Doyle may suggest full mouth restoration. With a full mouth restoration, Dr. Doyle can correct bite pain and dysfunction, restore healthy teeth and gums, and create a fabulous smile you will be proud to show off. If you would like to find out what a full mouth restoration could do for your smile, contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle today.

Facial Pain & TMJ Therapy
Thousands of Americans suffer from facial pain and/or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain. TMJ therapy seeks to remedy this problem by restoring balance among the teeth, muscles, and joints. Dr. Doyle specializes in treating facial pain and TMJ dysfunction. He can provide many different treatment options for patients suffering from jaw and myofascial pain. Most of the time this condition can be treated by reshaping the teeth to create a balanced bite. Other options may include a specialized splint, comprehensive orthodontics, or tooth restoration. If you suffer from pain, tightness, or clicking in the jaw, Dr. Doyle can help. Contact our practice today to learn more about Facial Pain and TMJ therapy.

Orthodontics
Having straight teeth is important for both health and appearance. Not only do we have traditional metal braces, but we also offer newer, subtler varieties. One option is clear braces, which straighten teeth without calling attention to the fact that you have braces. Another option is invisible aligners - a unique new treatment option. Rather than using wires and brackets, invisible aligners are custom-made, removable aligner trays that move teeth into place discreetly and comfortably. The aesthetic aspect is important, because having a smile you love can affect your happiness and self-esteem, whether you are an adult, a teenager, or a child. Our on-staff orthodontist can help you select the option that is right for you or your child or teen. To learn more the orthodontic options we offer, please contact our Harford County office today.

I.V. Sedation
Dr. Michael Doyle is one of the few general dentists in Maryland who is licensed to deliver conscious sedation. Conscious I.V. sedation alleviates anxiety and ensures maximum comfort for patients who might be more sensitive to dental treatment. Although you are not unconscious under sedation, you are in a state of complete relaxation. We will monitor you closely throughout the procedure to ensure your safety. Please contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle if you would like to learn more about conscious I.V. sedation. We also have available sedation through the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

Technology
Our practice is proud to offer some of the most advanced technology that modern dentistry has to offer, including computer imaging, digital x-rays, intraoral cameras, the diagnodent laser, computers in every operatory, and the exciting CEREC 3D machine for single visit dental restorations. This technology enhances our overall level of service by allowing us to provide improved efficiency, safety, precision, and doctor-patient communication. CEREC 3D

CEREC 3D Before

Restoring damaged teeth with porcelain crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays usually requires multiple appointments, but not at our office! The practice of Dr. Michael Doyle is the most experienced in Harford County to offer single-visit, ceramic-bonded dental restorations with the impressive CEREC 3D technology. These porcelain restorations are created right in the dental office while you wait with this state-of-the-art equipment. First, optical impressions are made of your teeth using CEREC’s infrared camera and 3D software. This digital image is then used to design a custom restoration for you, matching the color precisely to the shade of your natural teeth. The CEREC 3D machine then mills your restoration while you wait. Dr. Doyle bonds the new restoration to your tooth, and your dental work is complete—often in a little over an hour!

Custom-fitted restorations made with the CEREC 3D technology are one of the best investments you can make in your teeth. CEREC restorations are:

  • Natural looking - made from dental ceramic, the closest thing we have to human enamel
  • Convenient - there is no temporary, no impression, and no second visit
  • Long lasting - durable bonded ceramic restorations can last for years, outlasting dental fillings
  • Proactive - CEREC inlays, onlays, and three-quarter crowns hold up so well, they reduce the chance of patients ever needing a full-coverage crown

To learn more about single-visit tooth restorations with CEREC 3D, or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Doyle, please contact our practice today.

Computer Imaging
Thinking about having cosmetic dentistry but not sure if you’re ready for the change? Computer imaging can give you a “sneak preview” of what you may look like following the procedure of your choice. Starting with a digital photo, we can digitally enhance the image to show you what you may look like with veneers or after teeth whitening. Seeing how you may look can help you select the procedures that are right for you. Computer imaging can help patients have appropriate expectations for cosmetic dental procedures and makes the process fun. To learn more about computer imaging, please contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle today.

Digital X-Rays
Digital dental X-rays offer many advantages. Although the risk of radiation damage from normal X-rays is small, digital X-rays limit exposure by up to 90 percent, enhancing your safety significantly. To take a digital X-ray of your teeth, we insert a film-sized sensor into your mouth. The X-rays are then instantly transmitted to a computer screen, where your dentist can review them with you. You can see any problems for yourself while reviewing your treatment options together. Digital X-rays help you to be more informed about your own dental health. If you'd like to learn more about digital X-rays, please contact us today.

Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera is a revolutionary diagnostic dental tool that allows us to more easily identify potential problems within the mouth early on. The tiny intraoral camera is inserted into a patient's mouth, taking pictures of the teeth and displaying the images on a computer screen. Using the intraoral camera saves time and makes problems easily visible to both patient and doctor. Patients can view the areas we will be working on, making procedures more understandable. The accompanying software also provides clear and accurate data so that the best treatment options can be selected. To learn more about the intraoral camera, please contact our office today.

DIAGNOdent®
The DIAGNOdent® laser makes it possible for Dr. Doyle to detect and diagnose tooth decay in its earliest stages. This powerful laser makes it easier to find decay hiding in the cracks and crevices of teeth, catching problems that might be missed by conventional detections methods. Earlier detection of problems means less damage to the tooth and better preservation of your original tooth structure.

The practice of Dr. Doyle is committed to preventative care and to helping our patients maintain healthy, beautiful smiles through the best technology available. To learn more about the DIAGNOdent® laser, or any of our other dental technology, please contact the practice of Dr. Michael Doyle today.

VELscope® early detection device for oral cancer

To provide better care for our patients, Dr. Doyle has purchased the new VELscope oral cancer early detection device. The VELscope uses a special light and observation filter that help find cancerous and precancerous tissue. The exam is easy for the patient, very affordable, and could even save your life.
